FREEZE PROPERTY TAXES. NOW.
For too long Lake County has had some of the highest property taxes in the country. Under the Republican leadership the budget kept climbing and climbing. Taxes rose every year from Fiscal Year 2016 to Fiscal Year 2019. Paras will fight against property taxes hikes and bring more transparency to the process. This starts by making the county chief assessment officer an elected position. It’s time for this person to be accountable to you.
INFRASTRUCTURE
All residents of Lake County face one persistent problem that makes living here at times a challenge - traffic congestion. We experience it nearly every day during the work week. We absolutely need a long-term plan that improves our aging infrastructure, creating smart traffic design and new modes of transport. However, we can’t do it alone - we need the state to be a committed partner. Today our infrastructure is a drag on our economy and well-being - the future must be different and Paras will make it a priority.

Until 2018 Lake County was the poster child for fiscal mismanagement, no bid-contracts, and a lack of transparency. Now with new members on the board we’re making huge strides towards transparency. But we still have much more to do. Big donors and corporations flow staggering sums of money to local candidates right here in Lake County. Paras is committed to working with state legislators to rein in the amount of contributions by corporations and big donors to local elections. Only then can we expect a local government that is accountable to you.

No matter what Republican leaders say, Paras knows climate change is the biggest long-term threat we face. We are already seeing the impact through severe weather events and persistent flooding. We need to get to 100% clean energy- now. And there is reason for optimism - Lake County can be a leader in green technology, creating hundreds to thousands of jobs. But only if we elect leaders who make it our priority. Are you ready to join Paras?
FIXING OUR ECONOMY
As wonderful as our county is, and as much as we love living here, fewer people are wanting to move here. Over the past 10 years the population of Lake County has shrunk. Employment peaked in 2016 and has been dropping ever since. Businesses are leaving, with several large health companies recently relocating - taking thousands of jobs with them. This board must finally take responsibility for attracting businesses to come to Lake County. As your next Board Member, Paras will make job creation one of his top priorities.
